Report about Germany’s first Black woman MP

In September of 2021 Awet Tesfaiesus made history. In Germany’s general election, she became the first Black woman to ever win a seat in the Bundestag. Nicole met Tesfaiesus in the small-town constituency where it all started and joined her on one of her trips to her new workplace in Berlin.

They talk about structural racism, overcoming injustice, the importance of representation, and her hopes for the future.
